Hello TCOW Participants and Parents!
I’m very excited to be writing to you today to remind you of
our first gathering all together for TCOW 2018-2019. As you know,
this gathering will be a sleepover at Parkminster United Church in
Waterloo (https://goo.gl/maps/tKe57Q8WjYr). Bring your sleeping
bag/sleeping mat, pajamas, a change of clothes, and toiletries for
the stay along with any (nut-free) snacks that you might want to
share. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. If
you play an instrument, feel free to bring that along as well!
The quick agenda is that on Friday night we’ll spend time getting to know one another and the TCOW program followed by less structured social time. On Saturday we’ll spend the morning learning about what Global Citizenship entails and do some reflection. After lunch we’ll have a Q&A session with parents, participants, TCOW leadership, and Jim Hodgson who is the United Church of Canada’s Program Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean (he’s been instrumental in making our connection with Colombia). We’ll discuss topics such as vaccinations, fundraising ideas, costs, preliminary questions around logistics, and whatever else comes to mind!
Here are the most important notes to remember:
- Arrive at Parkminster: 7 PM on the 21st
- Bring your $400 deposit / initial payment – please make your
cheque payable to Harcourt United Church
- Parent/participant information session: 1:30 PM on the 22nd
- Depart for home after the information session (~2:30 PM) on the 22nd.
